About Us
At Croswell Free Methodist we are
Grounded in the Word
Everything we do begins with the Word of God — the living voice of Christ that forms our worship, faith, and life together. Through Scripture, preaching, and prayer, we are drawn into God’s story of redemption and renewal. To be grounded in the Word means allowing God’s truth to shape who we are and how we live, anchoring us in the unchanging Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Fed Through the Sacraments
Christ meets us in tangible ways — through water, bread, and wine. In Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, we encounter His real presence and receive the grace that nourishes and sustains us. The Sacraments remind us that God’s love is not just something we believe in, but something we experience and share — the very nourishment that strengthens us for the life of faith.
Sent to Mission in the World
Worship always leads to sending. Having been grounded in the Word and fed through the Sacraments, we are sent into the world to live out what we have received. Every believer is called to carry Christ’s presence into daily life — to love, serve, and bear witness in our homes, workplaces, and communities as signs of His Kingdom in the world.
Biblical
Creedal
The Nicene Creed is a centerpiece of Christianity. It contains the content of our faith in capsule form and connects us to the ancient church as well as the global church of today. Free Methodist’s also recognize the Apostle’s Creed and the Athanasian Creed. We believe these historic creeds faithfully express the Christian faith and the standard for orthodoxy.
Liturgical
Liturgy, simply defined as “the work of the people” means that every makes an important contribution to the worship service. With every line saturated in Scripture we believe it helps form us. Our liturgy as well as the liturgical calendar of the church year mark the rhythms of our communal life. We believe that in a fast paced world, liturgy helps ground us in the story of Scripture and helps give us our identity as we are transformed by Jesus. While we draw from several sources, we primarily worship with elements from our Anglican heritage found in the 2019 Book of Common Prayer (BCP).
Sacramental
Free Methodist’s recognize two sacraments, baptism and the Lord’s Supper, also called Holy Communion or the Eucharist (thanksgiving). Croswell FMC believes that God uses his creation to communicate his grace to his people. Sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace, given by Christ. Yet they are also the sure and certain means by which we receive that grace.
Jesus-Centered
All these factors, from the primacy of Scripture to our connection to the global church in creed, liturgy and sacrament, only serve to point us more fully to Jesus, the risen Savior of the world. Croswell FMC seeks to exalt Jesus Christ and our sincere hope is that many will be brought into a deeper relationship with Him through us.
